Short version
Turdle collects your email, a display name, and the entries you log. It shows those entries — and a written summary built from them, see “AI-generated Analysis” below — to the other members of any shared toilet ("bowl") you join. It has no ads, no third-party tracking or analytics SDKs, and nothing is ever sold or shared with anyone outside your own bowls.
What Turdle collects
- Your email address
- Used only to sign you in. Turdle has no passwords — you enter your email, receive a six-digit code, and type it back. Your email is not shown to other users; they only ever see your display name.
- A display name
- Whatever you choose when you create your account. This is visible to other members of any bowl you join.
- Your entries
- For each one: a Bristol Stool Chart type (1–7) or an "unsuccessful attempt," the date and time, and optionally a mood you selected ("I'm proud," "I'm sad," "My belly hurts").
- Reactions
- When you send another member a "Thoughts and Prayers" or "Way to Go," Turdle records who sent it, who received it, and which entry it was about.
- Which bowls you belong to
- And the color assigned to you within each.
- A push notification token, if you turn on notifications
- An opaque device identifier used only to deliver the notification types you've opted into ("someone logged an entry," "someone reacted to yours") — not used for anything else, and nothing is sent unless you've turned a toggle on.
That is the complete list. Turdle does not collect your location, your contacts, your photos, or your usage behavior.
Health-related data
Bowel movement records are health-related information, and Turdle treats them that way. They are stored so that only you and the members of your own bowls can read them, enforced by database-level access rules rather than only by the app.
Turdle is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. The "Analysis" screen describes simple patterns in your own logged data — it is descriptive and informal, not a diagnosis. Talk to a doctor about anything that concerns you.
Turdle does not share health-related data with anyone, does not use it for advertising, and does not use it to train any model.
Who can see your entries
Only the members of the bowls you are in. Joining a bowl requires an invite code from someone already in it.
Be aware that sharing is the point of the app: if you join a bowl, the other members of that bowl can see the entries you post to it, along with your display name, mood, and the times you logged. Choose who you share with accordingly.
Turdle staff do not read your entries. There is no support tool, dashboard, or internal view that surfaces them.
Where your data is stored
Turdle stores data with Supabase, a hosted database provider, on servers in the United States. Supabase processes this data on Turdle's behalf and does not use it for its own purposes. Their privacy policy is at supabase.com/privacy.
Sign-in codes are delivered by email through a standard email provider. That provider handles your email address in order to deliver the message.
AI-generated Analysis
The "Analysis" screen's written recap is generated twice a day by Google's Gemini API, from everyone's recent entries in that bowl — display names, Bristol Stool Chart types, moods, and dates (no email addresses) — plus any "Thoughts and Prayers"/"Way to Go" reactions members sent each other on those entries (who reacted, to whom, which kind, and when) — and explicitly asked to compare members against each other, not just describe each person alone. The resulting write-up is shared with every member of that bowl, the same as the entries and reactions it's built from; it is not generated privately for just you. This is also the only place any Turdle data leaves Supabase for a third party.
Google's free-tier terms permit using submitted data to improve their own products, which is a weaker guarantee than a paid tier would carry; see ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms. If this ever becomes a concern, Analysis always has a rule-based fallback that runs entirely without Gemini.
What Turdle does not do
This app does analyze your data — that's the whole point of the Analysis section above, shared with your bowl the same as everything else. What it does not do is send anything about you to outside companies for their purposes:
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No third-party analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting SDKs (nothing like Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or Sentry silently tracking app usage).
- No third-party trackers of any kind.
- Your data is never sold, rented, or shared for anyone else's marketing.
- No AI training on your data by Turdle itself — see "AI-generated Analysis" above for the one third-party exception and what it covers.
Deleting your data
Email jeffryjliu@gmail.com and ask. Your account, your entries, your reactions, and your bowl memberships will be deleted within 30 days. There is no dark pattern here and no retention period you have to wait out.
Note one consequence of a shared app: entries you posted into a shared bowl are removed along with everything else, so they will disappear from other members' views too.
Children
Turdle is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information. Parents who track a young child's health typically do so from their own account, which is fine — that data belongs to the account holder under this policy.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that meaningfully affects what is collected or who can see it, the date at the top will be updated and the change noted here.
